Salt Flats owner and photographer Diane Loyd grew up in the Coastal Bend, giving her a head start on her passion, photographing birds. Much of her time is spent on the salt flats of the Aransas National Wildlife Refuge and she knows Whooping Cranes intimately. When asked how she is able to get her incredible pictures, she responds "Patience, luck and a little magic is the key to my success". Her expertise is shown by her famous shot of the Lobstick Twins with their parents whooping.
